Sheree uses Hakomi as it tends to be much faster and more effective than talk therapy. Because it gets to this unconscious material more quickly – it can sometimes take only a few sessions instead of months or years - people get results much faster.

How we achieve a better you

Improving the mind, called psychotherapy, works on the basis that many of the problems we have in our lives are caused by unconscious patterns that are essentially running us without our knowledge.

Hakomi is a form of psychotherapy that works to integrate mind and body and can be described as a gentle unfolding of the soul. It tends to be much faster and more effective than talk therapy because it gets to this unconscious material more quickly – it can sometimes take only a few sessions instead of months or years. This means people get results much faster.

A long and science backed history

Hakomi is a depth psychology and while some of the concepts stem from Buddhism and Taoism, especially the concepts of gentleness, compassion, mindfulness and going with the grain, Hakomi is a science-based modality with precise skills and techniques. Some have evolved out of aspects of Gestalt therapy, NLP, Feldenkrais, Bioenergetics, Structural Bodywork and Eriksonian Hypnosis.

In Hakomi we involve the body in the psychotherapeutic process because one of the most important journeys we will ever take is the one where we link heart and mind.

Genuine mindfulness is therefore regarded as a basic tool in Hakomi and at the core of what Sheree offers.
